Provides a statistical overview and analysis of children who accompanied their parents or guardians to the Supported Accommodation Assistance Program (SAAP) in the year 2002-03, or were in receipt of services from the SAAP as a consequence of their parent/guardian being a client of the programme. The report is structured so as to highlight key demographic characteristics, reasons for SAAP use and the children’s living arrangements, both before and after use of the SAAP services. Findings suggest that children whose parent/guardian presented to the SAAP for domestic violence reasons were more likely to receive accompanying child support from the service and to have their needs met by SAAP agencies than other children in contact with the programme.
