Outlines the key principles of the Western Australian State Strategic Plan for Responding to Family and Domestic Violence, the service and policy context within which it is being implemented and the ten focus areas identified as priority by the government. Existing services for victims and perpetrators within the various government departments are described and some areas for future research are identified. The strategic plan centres around the key themes of preventing domestic and family violence, protecting victims and children through the development of social and legal sanctions and provision of services to those affected.
