Part two of the action plan also entitled: Individual responses to each of the Gordon Inquiry's recommendations by themes
This action plan is the result of an investigation into Western Australian government agencies’ responses to complaints of family violence and child abuse in Aboriginal communities, which became known as the Gordon Inquiry. The inquiry followed the 1999 death of 15-year-old Susan Taylor, an Aboriginal adolescent who previously reported physical and sexual abuse. Two parts integrate this report: the first outlines the key issues of the Gordon Inquiry; summarises the funding commitments; establishes the challenge for Government and Aboriginal communities; recognises the need of building partnerships; and announces the expansion of statutory services, the improvement of social services and the increase in the numbers of police officers and practitioners. The second part details individual responses and actions to each of the Gordon Inquiry’s recommendations by themes.
