Notes:  This strategy was launched on October 2002 by the Victorian Government to reduce violence against women. It is divided into four parts. The first section sets the principles and policy directions for addressing violence against women in Victoria over the next five years. The second part outlines specific initiatives the Government is undertaking to reduce violence against women. The initiatives to reduce violence are grouped under four areas: protection and justice; options for women; education and violence prevention, and community action and coordination. The third section presents personal experiences of violence in women's own words. This recognises that it is critical for the actions of Government to be informed by women's experiences. Many women have generously shared their experiences to educate others about violence. Finally, an online brochure outlines some of the Women's Safety Strategy's initiatives and related services.
