Notes:  Point of Contact is a cross-state partnership project addressing the training and support needs of frontline workers who may come into contact with children who live with domestic violence. The major outcome of the project has been the development of a comprehensive and flexible awareness-raising and training resource for these workers. The Point of Contact project and the training program which resulted emphasise the importance of an appropriate response to children by frontline workers. It provides a number of modules to assist services to tailor training to the needs of their workforce. Point of Contact addresses the training needs of a range of workers in contact with children, including teachers, police, doctors, nurses, family court counsellors, childcare workers and contact centre workersThe training resource is provided as a package which includes extensive background reading materials exercises, songs, suggestions for training programs and modules. Material covered includes the importance of a “Frontline Response”, working with diversity, the impact of domestic violence on children, legal issues, working with children and values.The program was developed following a PADVII funded trial and evaluation in 2004.
