The trauma of historical eventsassociated with colonisation of Indigenous land canpass to children (inter-generational trauma). Evenif protected from the traumatic life experiences offamily, some Indigenous children, like non-Indigenouschildren, directly experience trauma throughexposure to an accident, family violence and abuse.Although the effects of childhood trauma can besevere and long lasting, recovery can be mediated byappropriate interventions.
