Notes:  Why a Family Safety Hub?
In late June 2016, the ACT Government committed to a $21 million family violence package addressing major issues in addressing family violence in the ACT. The
ACT Government released a comprehensive response to family violence which responded to series of reports. The reports included the Glanfield Inquiry, the Death
Review and the Gap Analysis.
In August 2016, ThinkPlace ran a half-day workshop for the Office of the Coordinator General for Family Safety to progress key work in the area of the family safety
hub concept. The workshop brought together the public, private and non-government sectors to collaboratively co-design this initiative.
An outcome of the workshop was support for the Family Safety Hub to be progressed, ready for further consideration by end of year. In response to that outcome the
Office of the Coordinator General for Family Safety Justice worked with stakeholders to develop principles to guide a co-design process and is leading that process
with the sector to develop and test a proposition for the hub that increases the effectiveness of existing services.
