Notes:  This paper outlines the role of the Children’s Commission of Queensland and its Focus on Fathering project. The Commission was created in 1996 to guard and promote the wellbeing, needs and rights of people aged between 0 and 18 years. Special attention has been drawn to family environment, since it is generally accepted that children’s development is affected by their early experiences. The Fathering project is also concerned with masculinity perceptions and the repercussions of domestic and family violence incidents on children. During 2000, the time this article was written, the project intended to improve education about Australian men as parents and their responsibility in children’s welfare.
