Notes:	Overview: This report from the United States explores the nature, impact and function of police-community organisation partnerships that have been formed to address family violence. The report aims to expand upon the limited knowledge about how these partnerships coordinate their activities and to inform policy makers. Methods: PERF used a broad sample of local agencies across the United States involved in such partnerships and gathered data in two phases. A literature review was carried out and experts interviewed. A mail survey, telephone interviews and case studies of eleven local law enforcement agencies were used to collect data. Discussion: The report highlights successful strategies to deal with intimate partner violence (IPV), discusses barriers to effective partnerships, gives recommendations for overcoming these barriers and provides strategies for forming partnerships.
