This kit came about as the result of work done on the 'Let's Face It' project, a project looking at developing community responses to partner abuse. Fifteen workshops for community members were conducted in various communities in Southern Tasmania during 2000 and 2001. The material in this manual was developed and refined through work with those who participated. The seven minute video contains segments from "Domestic violence - quandary" which revolve around the story of one woman who is being abused by her husband. The vignettes have been designed to encourage the discussion of issues including the family and its right to privacy, the responsibility of the community, the role of the police, why women find it difficult to leave and community attitudes to partner abuse.
Contents:	The manual of a guide to a two part workshop programme. Each part takes approximately three hours. Workshop One focuses on behaviours that constitute abuse and the appropriate response to criminal forms of abuse. Workshop Two looks more closely at strategies for responding to non crisis situations. Specific notes and exercises for a workshop focused on partner abuse in same sex relationships are outlined in a supplement.
