The Let's Face It project and the Tasmanian Deaf Society have worked in partnership since March 2001 to develop an innovative community development project addressing the issues of partner abuse in an accessible, deaf-friendly way. This manual and video is one of the results of this collaboration and is intended for use by deaf facilitators in their local communities.
The video contains vignettes which have been designed to encourage the discussion of issues including the family and its right to privacy, the responsibility of the community, the role of crisis services and safety plans, why women find it difficult to leave, community attitudes to partner abuse and appropriate ways to intervene.
