Notes:  27 minute video portraying scenarios of women obtaining protection from domestic violence by applying for Apprehended Violence Orders (AVOs) in the local court within NSW. During Part One of the video, the stories of three women are observed. These stories show the legal process in action and highlight how an AVO can be obtained, the service of summons, the use of Telephone Interim Orders, Exparte Orders and the option of registering interstate orders. The obstacles experienced by women pursuing the legal process are demonstrated and the role of Court Assistance Support workers is emphasised. Part Two summarises the legal process, incorporating diagrams. A booklet accompanies the video to be used by women experiencing domestic violence and service providers who wish to be more informed about the legal process.
