Notes:  A community education and training package for adults about overcoming the effects of domestic violence on children
'Change Could Come' demonstrates the link between domestic violence and the emotional and physical abuse of children. It raises awareness about the effects of domestic violence on children and illustrates how children's thoughts, feelings and behaviours are strongly shaped by what they see and hear at home. Life-like puppets represent children's experiences of both living with and separating from domestic violence. The impact of these situations on the lives and the relationships of children is dramatically and realistically portrayed through the sensitive use of humour and dialogue. 'Change Could Come' emphasises the positive message that even though adults may be abusive, or domestic violence may be affecting their lives, they can do something to change the situation. It presents positive parenting practices which help adults to nurture children and to understand their needs, and identifies interventions which involve the police and apprehended violence orders as important strategies in addressing domestic violence.
