Notes:	"Multilingual audo-tape kit : an orientation to a women's shelter" -Spine title of container. "The kit was in part funded by a grant under the National Agenda of Women Grants Program, Office of the Status of Women, Canberra" -Back of container. This kit is designed for use with women of non-English speaking background (NESB) entering shelters for victims of domestic violence. The audio-tapes provide information in Italian, Spanish, Vietnamese, Cantonese and Filipino. They aim to allay NESB women's fears and misgivings about shelters by explaining what a shelter is and the range of services provided. The tapes also acknowledge women's apprehension about the decision to leave, reinforces their right to a life without abuse and gives assurance of support in a culturally sensitive manner. This audio-tape package is to be used in the presence of shelter staff when bilingual workers or interpreters are not immediately available.
