dc.description.abstract | This report explores the interventions and service pathways that support gay, bisexual, trans, and queer (GBTQ) men who have used violence in their intimate or family relationships to recognise their harmful behaviour and commit to non-violence. Drawing on 40 interviews with GBTQ men, victim survivors, and practitioners, this qualitative research focuses on Men’s Behaviour Change Programs (MBCPs) tailored to GBTQ men in Victoria, Australia. Findings highlight the barriers to engaging GBTQ men in change processes and the effectiveness of LGBTIQ+ community-controlled organisations in creating culturally safe environments. The report identifies key catalysts of change in service pathways, including early identification, integrated services, and tailored interventions that address co-existing issues like alcohol and other drugs (AOD) and mental health challenges. Recommendations include enhancing service inclusivity, increasing awareness of GBTQ family violence, and building capacity for specialist service delivery to improve outcomes for users of violence and victim survivors. | en_US |
