Abstract: | This study examines factors associated with dropout and completion of treatment in a population of men attending spouse abuse treatment programs in Quebec, Canada. Data were collected from 286 men who began group treatment in eight community-based programs. The study found that men who completed treatment were older, had higher education levels, and better economic stability compared to those who dropped out. They also had more stable family lives and stronger therapeutic engagement, including a higher level of agreement with their therapists. Social and judicial pressures were not significant predictors of treatment completion. The findings provide insight into factors that may improve retention in intervention programs for people who use domestic and family violence. |
