Abstract: | This article presents findings from a process evaluation of a combined alcohol and other drug (AOD) use and domestic violence perpetrator intervention, drawing on victim–survivors’ accounts. The study explores the alignment and divergence between men’s self-reports of behaviour change and victim–survivors’ experiences of safety and change in their relationships. Findings highlight three key patterns: victim–survivor accounts that validate, challenge, and provide nuanced perspectives on men’s self-reported behaviour change. The study underscores the importance of victim–survivor engagement in men’s behaviour change programs (MBCPs) as a means to monitor risk, assess program outcomes, and provide access to support for victim–survivors. The findings contribute to growing evidence on the role of partner and family safety contact services in cross-validating program impact and enhancing safety and accountability measures in perpetrator interventions. |
