NCP Report No. 6
Overseas literature has provided evidence that interventions early in life can have long-term impacts on crime and other social problems. Little was known about Australian early intervention programmes, and whether they had the specific objective of crime prevention. This comprehensive document reports the findings of a project which reviewed international literature on human development and early intervention, identified and collected detailed information on early intervention programmes in Australia and formulated a policy framework for planning developmental and prevention initiatives.
