Abstract:  Volume III of the Royal Commission into Family Violence: Report and Recommendations focuses on law enforcement, court-based responses, and systems for managing perpetrators of family violence in Victoria. It examines the role of Victoria Police in responding to family violence incidents, including challenges in frontline operations, identifying primary aggressors, and ensuring consistent risk assessments using the L17 family violence risk tool. The report reviews court-based responses, sentencing practices, and perpetrator accountability, with recommendations aimed at strengthening intervention order enforcement, improving police training, and establishing a Family Violence Centre of Learning to enhance officer education. The volume also discusses systemic barriers that impact victims' access to justice and outlines strategies for achieving an integrated, victim-centred approach to law enforcement and family violence prevention in Victoria.
